Teaches: London: Biography of a City; Britain in the Age of Revolution and Reform
Dr Keith Surridge has taught history at GEO in London for over ten years. He was born in Walthamstow, north-east London, where he still lives, and worked for a bank for nine years before going to university. He tried work and didn’t like it, so he thought he’d become an academic! Keith studied at Queen Mary and King’s College, University of London, where he gained his BA (Hons) and Ph.D respectively. His publications include Managing the South African War, 1899-1902; Politicians vs. Generals (1998); (with Denis Judd) The Boer War (2002); and Onwards to Omdurman: The Anglo-Egyptian Campaign to Reconquer the Sudan, 1896-1898 (2022). He, for his sins, supports West Ham United (Up the Hammers!) and likes a pint of fine ale from time to time. Keith also hosts the legendary GEO in London pub quiz!
